The major cultural project “Art-Voyage,” founded by the First Private Museum of Contemporary Ukrainian Art (MSMU) and supported by the Serhiy Tsiupko Charitable Foundation, is once again gathering art lovers together. This time, the traveling exhibition, titled “Moments of Inspiration” has unfolded in a legendary “place of power”—the Kachanivka National Historical and Cultural Preserve. The patron’s press service analyzes the philosophy of this event, the synergy between the past and the present, and the mission of preserving Ukraine’s cultural code during these difficult times.
Culture never exists in a vacuum. It flourishes where deep roots exist and sends out new shoots wherever people are ready to protect it from the harshest historical winds. Today, the question of preserving national identity and supporting a living artistic process is more urgent than ever.
That is why the museum’s collection, which now numbers over 6,000 unique exhibits, is not confined within the walls of the capital. It breathes, travels, and spreads light through the “Art-Voyage” tour. And this time, the route traditionally leads to the Chernihiv region, where artistic canvases acquire an entirely new, profound resonance within the halls of an ancient estate.
Kachanivka as a Tuning Fork for Creative Sincerity
The estate on the banks of the Smosh River is not merely a beautiful architectural monument or a picturesque centuries-old park. It is a genuine geographical and spiritual “place of power” in Ukraine. Throughout the 19th century, Kachanivka served as a unique magnet for the best Ukrainian talents—a space where colossal internal potential accumulated, allowing for the realization of the most daring creative visions.
Masterpieces that now form the foundation of our culture were born here. In these halls and along these alleys, figures like Taras Shevchenko, Mykola Gogol, Mykola Kostomarov, Mykhailo Maksymovych, Mykhailo Glinka, Marko Vovchok, Dmytro Yavornytsky, Ilya Repin, Mykola Ge, and Mykhailo Shchepkin searched for—and found—their creative wings. It was here, at the estate, that the talented student of the Academy of Arts, Vasyl Sternberg, spent his summer vacations between 1836 and 1838. The canvases he painted in Kachanivka earned him high academic awards and forever inscribed this place in the history of classical painting.
When works from the museum’s collection enter these historic halls, a striking sense of organic unity emerges. The art of the past and the art of the present begin to speak the same language—the language of historical continuity. Curators at the MSMU note that the aura of Kachanivka acts as a kind of tuning fork for clarity. It demands the highest artistic quality and absolute creative sincerity from every canvas selected for such landmark exhibitions.
The Mission of the Charitable Foundation: Art Accessible to Everyone
Public interest in the museum’s collection is growing steadily. The archives are actively studied by professional researchers, art critics, and ordinary Ukrainians who closely follow the country’s cultural pulse. The museum has never hidden its treasures; the paintings are readily provided for landmark exhibition projects and for inclusion in authoritative publications.
However, the most important vector of our work remains the direct, “live” engagement with audiences in the regions. Executing large-scale traveling exhibitions is a conscious and systematic stance, which is financially and organizationally supported by the Serhiy Tsiupko Charitable Foundation.
The museum’s founder and creator of the Foundation, the renowned philanthropist Serhiy Viktorovych Tsiupko, outlines the strategic goal of this activity:
“We want Ukrainian art to travel across the country, find new admirers, and inspire people just as Kachanivka once inspired the great artists of the past. Ukrainian art is not just a reflection of time, but a source of strength, memory, and inspiration. We are convinced that it should be as close to people as possible.”
This work is particularly significant today. Culture during wartime is not just a form of entertainment; it is a mental shield. The Charitable Foundation takes on all the logistics—organization, safe transportation, and installation—so that Ukrainians can experience authentic art completely free of charge, feel its healing therapeutic effect, and restore their internal reserves.

“During the war, such initiatives bring goodness, beauty, and glimpses of our ordinary, peaceful life into the soul. Supporting culture is an investment in the future. After all, art shapes an environment where values are preserved, ideas are born, and the bond between generations is strengthened.”
“Moments of Inspiration”: A Constellation of the Golden Fund
This exhibition brings together iconic, celebrated names that rightfully belong to the Golden Fund of Ukrainian painting. The project does not merely return familiar masters to the walls; it significantly expands the geographic representation, showcasing a vibrant palette of images that resonate with each of us.
Moving from canvas to canvas, the viewer encounters the various regional schools of Ukraine. Here, you will find the intellectual depth and solid classical traditions of Kyiv and Kharkiv, the distinctive color palette of Zakarpattia, the sunny warmth of Crimea, and the bold experiments with form from Lviv artists. Although each artist represents a unique school and worldview, together their works create a holistic, diverse tapestry of our shared culture.
Every one of these artists is a separate universe with their own perspective. Yet, gathered together in the unique space of this historic estate, they merge into a majestic symphony that demonstrates the unity, wealth, and indivisibility of our national culture.
Dialogue in the Silence of the Halls
Every painting in this exhibition is more than just a splash of color on a wall. It is a sincere, bright, and deeply positive message to society—a manifestation of the highest note of human creative elevation. Art possesses a marvelous ability: it gently returns us to the most important moments of our past, to those fragile, refined emotional fragments from which the strong life-chain of every individual is forged.
The “Moments of Inspiration” exhibition is deliberately structured to be a space of silence. There is no room here for bustle. Every piece demands individual contemplation, a quiet inner dialogue, and a subtle yet incredibly profound personal emotional contact between the viewer and the artist.
